DANCE

The Sarah Heinz House dance program gives your child body language for self-expression, confidence for performance on and off the stage, and athleticism for injury prevention. We currently offer Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap, and Jazz. Programming starts at the kindergarten age and goes through 12th grade.

AVAILABLE SESSIONS

Tap: FEE $115

  • Mondays 5:30-6:30 pm 

  • All ages

  • This class teaches dancers to isolate the sounds of tap shoes with rhythm and precision to create or converse with the music. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a tap dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 
Mini Dance Combo: FEE $115

  • Mondays 6:30 – 7:15 pm

  • Kindergarten – 2nd grade

  • Includes 15 minutes of dance technique and 45 minutes of Ballet/Jazz dance moves to transform technique into artistry. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a ballet-based lyrical dance routine and a jazz dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 

Teen Dance Combo: FEE $115

  • Tuesdays 6:30-8:00 pm

  • 6th through 12th grades

  • Includes 30 minutes of dance technique and 60 minutes of Ballet/Jazz dance moves to transform technique into artistry. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a ballet-based lyrical dance routine and a jazz dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 
Mini Hip Hop: FEE $120

  • Wednesdays 5:30-6:15 pm

  • Kindergarten – 2nd grade

  • Teaches dancers to use footwork, isolations, and groundedness to transition between organic and geometric body pictures with rhythm, syncopation, dynamics and improvisation. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a hip-hop dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 
Youth Hip Hop: FEE $115

  • Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 pm

  • 2nd – 6th grades

  • Teaches dancers to use footwork, isolations, and groundedness to transition between organic and geometric body pictures with rhythm, syncopation, dynamics and improvisation. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a hip-hop dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 

Teen Hip Hop: FEE $115

  • Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 pm

  • 6th – 12th grades

  • Teaches dancers to use footwork, isolations, and groundedness to transition between organic and geometric body pictures with rhythm, syncopation, dynamics and improvisation. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a hip-hop dance routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.

 

Youth Dance Combo: FEE $115

  • Fridays 5:30-7:00 pm

  • 2nd – 6th grades

  • This class includes 30 minutes of dance technique and an hour of Ballet/Jazz dance moves to transform technique into artistry. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a ballet-based lyrical routine and a jazz routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024 at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center. Technique will strengthen the stability, rotation, extension, and flexion of the human form, allowing your dancer to create pictures with the body for movements like poses, turns, and jumps. Ballet dance moves will teach your dancer to speak through the body with balance, grace, articulation, and emotion. Jazz dance moves will teach your dancer to speak through the body with rhythm, syncopation, dynamics, and improvisation

 

HBCU Majorette Dance: FEE: $115

  • Fridays 7:00-8:00 pm

  • 1st – 12th grades

  • This class fuses elements of jazz, African, burlesque, and acrobatic dance to create one unique style of dance. Dancers who enroll in this class get the opportunity to perform a HBCU Majorette routine in our annual Heinz Dance Recital on April 26, 2024, at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.
