Reading the classic Dr. Seuss book The Lorax, this gracious and talented Steeler helped us celebrate reading, and he recognized our leading student in our Power Hour tutoring program, Tyler, by giving him a signed NFL ball.

It was a fun event and we appreciate #21 sharing some time with us.  And of course we wish him only the best as the season wraps up!

Grant Awards & Tax Credit Donations
In the past two months, we received word of many grants including 4 from foundations: The Heinz Endowments gave us $1.3M for general operations; Roy A. Hunt Foundation ($5,000); Jewish Women's Foundation ($7,500) and HJ Heinz Company Foundation ($15,000 for kitchen equipment).

In addition, we received generous gifts under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program --First National Bank($7,000); ESB Bank($1,000) and UPMC Health Plan($5,000).  We greatly appreciate this generous support and belief in our mission.
Best wishes and may 2009 be a wonderful year for you!
